Speechify

Speechify is an app that can be downloaded on a computer or phone. The person can scan, take a picture of, or upload text to the app and it will read it aloud in a voice of the person’s choosing (Kasturi et al., 2015). My favorite part about this app is that there are different voices to choose from. Some of the other apps I have tried only have one voice, and it is a monotone, very boring and hard to listen to robot-sounding voice. When the voice is hard to understand or monotone, I have found that it is actually easier for me just to read it myself. The app offers voices that sound like an actual person with intonations in their voice reading the text. I wish I had had this in elementary, middle, and high school.
